Tidewell

We hire slowly and on purpose.

Tidewell is eleven people spread across five countries. We have been profitable since year two and have no investors to please, which mostly means we can say no to things.

Nothing that fits? Write anyway. We keep good applications on file and have hired from them twice.

How we work

Fully remote, no core hours beyond a two-hour overlap with CET. We write things down rather than meet: one weekly call for the whole company, everything else asynchronous.

We do not have a ping-pong table and are not a family. We are colleagues who like the work and go home at a reasonable hour.

The process

  1. A short reply. Tell us what you have built and why it was hard. No cover letter template, please — we can tell.
  2. A call, 45 minutes. Mutual questions. We will describe the actual day-to-day, including the boring parts.
  3. A paid exercise. Four to six hours, at your pace, paid at contractor rate. Real problem from our backlog, not a puzzle.
  4. Two conversations. One technical, one with whoever you would work alongside.
  5. Offer or a real explanation. If it is a no, you will hear the reason within two working days.

Whole thing takes about three weeks. If it takes longer, that is on us and we will say so.
